Andalusia

Located on Spain’s southern shores Andalusia is one of Spain’s most visited areas. Known for the stunning beaches, nightlife and golfing on the Costa del Sol and the Costa de la Luz, Andalusia should be appreciated for holding forth two of Spain’s greatest attractions, both hailed globally as historically prestigious; the Alhambra in Granada and La Cordoba Mezquita in Cordoba.

Also grouped in Andalusia for the purposes of Spain Car Hire are Ceuta and Melilla in North Africa. Ceuta is an autonomous Spanish city on a peninsula that juts out into Mediterranean Sea from North Africa. Ceuta is s small 19 square kilometres on Africa’s side of the Strait of Gibraltar.

Ceuta and Tangiers are the two prominent ferry destinations from Gibraltar and Algeciras on the Spanish mainland and Ceuta is a great day trip from the Spanish mainland giving a taste of what Spain was once like when Moors and Arabs ruled the Iberian Peninsula.

Melilla is also an autonomous Spanish city in North Africa on the Mediterranean Coastline. Ceuta and Melilla are often referred to as Spanish Morocco and indeed the stronger influence is Moroccan, but Spanish is evident mixed with a tiny amount of French. Make sure to dine out and explore the medina’s in both Ceuta and Melilla.
